Wii Fit Plus Island cycling upper levels - SPOILER ALERT

Once you play the Island Cycling game a while you will open new levels. The highest I've found is the "Free Ride Course." It boasts that there are no flags so you can just enjoy a cycle around the island, but if you explore any amount you will find easter eggs in the form of blue and white striped balloons bobbing above holes in the ground.

Kescah said this about the balloons (and other things ;) ):
kescah wrote:Spoiler alert: On the Free Island Cycling level: I have been trying to locate all the balloons so that I can get through the island on time hoping to unlock doors on the hotel, ruins, and castle. Can it be done?

I have located two balloons out the sandy peninsula, one just through the tunnel in Camel Rock and one way out there. Follow the blimp. It takes time. Nothing near the windmills or lighthouse. Unless balloon locations change with each try?

I went through the town systematically and found two. One behind the last building on the right when you first enter town near the lighthouse area and one up a ramp on a grassy knoll. ;)

There are some when you take tunnels through the volcano mountain. It seems you cannot get to the Star area on this level, is that right?

There are balloons sitting around on grassy areas- just need to try to remember where they are. Scour the area around the mountain.

There is one way out to the left up the mountain road behind the castle. And if I remember correctly, one right behind the castle on the grass.

There are more elsewhere. I'll add them to this thread when I find them again. There are two doors in the ruins I want to get through. Has anyone done it? Also, one in the hotel and one in the castle. This level is really fun.

Thanks for moving my post here. I'll be watching for hints from you all and will be doing more work to find all the balloons on this course as time permits.

It took me a while and some aggravation, but I've found all twenty.

This is definitely spoiler stuff, but I've got the list below:

Note: all balloons are off the beaten path and definitely not on paved roads or city street stones. They are always on lawns, sand or dirt.
Also note: you're supposed to bust them by driving near or over them.

Balloons:
On the beach there are four: One near the farthest island on the ocean side, one on top of the shorter island (use a blue ramp to get up there), one at the camel rock and one way back past the resort near the tunnel - not up by the tunnel, but on the beach near the cove where the tunnel runs above.
On the hillside above the tunnel.
If you cross the path that leads to the ridge and bike along the narrow ledge there, you can find a balloon at the very end of it.
There's a balloon in the sand (or is that salt) of the dry lake bed in the same spot as one of the flags from earlier levels. In case you never found that flag: to get to that lake bed you have to go in the cave in the field above the path just as it reaches the ridge.
There's another balloon in the field of the widest part of the ridge near the entrance to the cavern that leads down to the lower field using a metal spiraling ramp.
In the field where the lower entrance to that same cavern sits at the top of a dirt ramp, there is a ledge that begins to the left (if you're approaching the mouth of the cave from below) ride along that narrow ledge to the end and there will be another balloon just before where the path below goes through the hole in the rock.
There is a balloon at the lighthouse. It's past the building, right out on the point.
Travelling along the paved road, past another hole in the rock to the right is a narrow field and a balloon up at the end of it.
Across the archway (still on the paved road) is another field on the other side of the inlet. There is another balloon there.
There is a balloon behind the temple in the ruins.
There are three balloons in town: one behind a large building near the water on the lighthouse side of town, one in a grassy alley in a building near the bridge side of town (on the water side of the wide main street) and one in the park above the fountain.
On the beach/resort side of the suspension bridge, near its footing, there is another balloon
There's one by Duckling lake high up the hill. To get to this point you have to go under the waterfalls at the lowest level and pedal your wii little feet off. As you finally crest the hill by the lake, turn around and find a field. At its far end is another balloon.
Behind the castle (between the castle and its wall) is a balloon.
At the stonehengey monument on the plateau above the castle (you can go either way around the ring) is the last one.

That should be twenty. Finding them took several sessions. I have not yet found and burst them all in one session. I'm hoping if I do I will get some kind of reward like maybe one of those doors in the ruins, castle, resort, etc. opening.

Thanks for the great information. I'll work on that... when I can't say. Tonight or tomorrow. (Tonight for me is hours away- I am on the west coast of the US.) It will be hard to pop them all in one session and still get over to one of the secret doors to check it out. Much less all of them! Maybe you can earn some extra time some way?
I'm just glad to know how many there are. And where they are; that will save a lot of time. Thanks.

Maybe I'll map out my journey before I sign on and then "pedal my wii feet off." :D

***I found these all- I had not previously found the ramp to the small island- that was great! Thanks.

There is a balloon at the lighthouse. It's past the building, right out on the point.

*** Great, found it!

There are three balloons in town: one behind a large building near the water on the lighthouse side of town, one in a grassy alley in a building near the bridge side of town (on the water side of the wide main street) and one in the park above the fountain.

***Hadn't found the one in the grassy alley, but now have. I'm getting through the island faster and faster, now that I know where some of these are.

There's one by Duckling lake high up the hill. To get to this point you have to go under the waterfalls at the lowest level and pedal your wii little feet off. As you finally crest the hill by the lake, turn around and find a field. At its far end is another balloon.

***Found it! I find that it is easier and faster to access if you get it on your way down from the castle loop.

***Yep, I hope so too. I am getting quite the workout. But that's why I have the Wii. I need to count balloons as I go so I will know how close I'm getting. I still haven't found the one at the foot of the suspension bridge. I haven't even found the bridge in the last few sessions. I seriously wonder if this can be done in 30 minutes. But I'll keep trying. Let me know how you do! Thanks.

I'm still trying to know the island well enough. Tonight I had forgotten how to find the castle and had to have my hubby read me your comments while I biked! Well any glitch like that eats up your time and so again I didn't complete the job.

I did get up on the roof top earlier today, but like you I couldn't stay up there. I think it is a matter of combining the right speed (too slow, you mash yourself into the side of the building, too fast you go over the top of the roof) and using the brakes. If even that works. You can burn up lots of time there. Hopefully there is no important key up there.

I have to remember that the balloon behind the ruins is in the grass, so no need to climb up the ramp and take the cramped ledge at this point.

Remember there are no balloons at the hotel so you can skip searching there to save time.

Heading out the peninsula to the farthest balloon takes a full three minutes for me, and three minutes back. But you need the three balloons out there.

Next time I am going to end my travels at the starting place so I can start there the following time. (Because you always start where you ended the time before.) I am going to have it all mapped out. I may even stick pins in the balloon locations on my map! I really want to open those doors! I think I will try to hit everything else first before the ruins, since there are two doors there.

okay - I'm feeling really thick. I have 19 out of the 20. The only one I don't understand is the one after the lighthouse on the list.

Am I turning left from the lighthouse?

We (hubby and I) have been able to burst 19 with 3mins remaining - dying to see what happens when we pop 20!!!

Wow, that's amazing!!! You must get mighty tired. Or do you share the session? :o :o

At the lighthouse, you head for the lighthouse and right on past it over the hill to the point. See the point on the map in your Wii Fit Plus booklet. You won't go off the cliff until after the balloon, though it seems like you will. And there is time to turn around.

Let us know what happens after the 20!

WE MADE IT!!!!

We had 3:38mins left. Found all 20 Beach balls.

REALLY Disappointed. :? We thought it would open a new level. All it says is : Congratulations you have found all 20 Beachballs in a new record time of 21:22mins.

Hopefully when we do it again, it will eventually open a new level.

HINT: end your last go out on the beach so they are the first beachballs to get, then finish in the town.
