Tummy Fat Foods

Alexa, how is your book? Or are you too busy for it right now.

I clicked on a link online that discussed tummy fat and it told of five foods that it says help fight tummy fat. If I can remember them all, they are:

Avocado

Eggs, especially the yolk.

Nuts

Grass fed beef.

Beans, lentils, etc.

I can also promise you from personal experience that eating only fresh fruit in the morning causes you to shed weight. Due to some potassium processing problem I cannot do that anymore. But I wish I could! The more fruit, the more you lose. This might be a good way to combat holiday weight gain; nobody is pushing a fatting breakfast on you!

I am also going back on strictly whole grains. There is nothing like the natural whole foods of the earth to be healthy. And like with grass fed beef, the old ways were best. Industrialization was not good for preventativ health. While recognizing that many modern things are very good to have around, like wii fit and online forums. :D

I'm afraid I've lapsed a bit ! I'm getting back into it though.

That's interesting about the fruit for breakfast, I need a kick start, my clothes feel okay but the Wii weigh in is telling me different :roll: . And I agree about the wholegrains, I eat a lot of rice, bulgar wheat, barley, and also pulses such as lentils, it is also pretty cheap to buy that stuff !

This is the very basic premise of the Abs diet book, obviously it's more in depth and there is a lot more choice than just what's mentioned -

A - almonds and other nuts
B - Beans
S - Spinach and other green veg.

D - Dairy - low fat.
I - Instant oatmeal (no sugar).
E - Eggs
T - Turkey and other lean meat/fish

P - peanut butter
O - Olive oil
W - Wholegrain cereals and breads
E - extra protein, such as whey
R - Raspberries and other berries

That's the basic idea. It does give plenty of scope for a healthy diet. He does also provide pages and pages of exercise for the abdominal area too. :roll:

Thanks for the info.

I'm doing ab and core exercises besides my fun stuff. It took me some months on the Wii to become willing to do them, but now I actually WANT to do them! I'm thinking that June is not too far off, and by July I won't be able to hide anything anymore, so I have to start now.

It is interesting that I started with just the fun exercise and then my desire to do the other grew. I'm sure it would be that way for others too. If you (whoever) are not motivated to do crunches, don't do 'em. Do exercise that you like. As you start to see results and feel better, the rest will come!

I have problems with my knees due to old injuries. When I started I would look at an exercise and think "I can't do that, my knees will hurt" and move on. I gradually started adding some of the things I couldn't do and even if I couldn't finish what was asked of me at least I did some. I kept trying and gradually I've increased muscle enough that I can do those exercises. Actually since I've gotten so I can do them, my knees aren't hurting. I've increased the muscle in my legs enough that they support my knees better and the pain is gone. I still have the odd bad day where things just aren't co-operating but by far the good days outnumber them.

A lot of times our mind gets in the way of what our bodies can do. Start with 2 lunges, crunches or squats. Work up to 4 and before you know it you're doing 20 with no problem.

Good advice.

I think that's something that affects many people as they get older. They say "well I'm old, I can't do that" so do less and less, which makes their bodies weaker, and it all becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.

I've found doing yoga and other exercise has really helped my back, by strengthening the muscles that support it. I think the worst thing to do when you have problems with your body is stop using it, but you should be careful with what you do. Sometimes just doing a little bit can do wonders.

Mokey, I too think there are somethings I can't do. I just decided last week that one way I will get to everything is to go to My WiiFit and click on Favorites and choose one thing from the Rarely done (now there is a huge list of things I've NEVER done) I will add one thing never done at least once a week. I know I should probably do that once a day, but I'm more realistic than that. I may not repeat a difficult exercise too often but once I get through the list of things I've never done I'll revisist the ones only done a time or too. Slowly but surely I'll get better at the tough things.

Mokey my wife finds the same thing. Aches and pains have disappeared since she started exercising more, she does more than me and has joined the local swim team. I wish I could say the same for my feet, I wear orthodics when I wear shoes but my toes ache constantly, arthritis I think.

The suggestion to do just a couple of reps and build up from there is great. I may even do some things I hate that way. I sorta did that with a few strength training exercises, doing just the low level and hating it for a month or so, then thinking, hey, I can do more! Then, voila' I started to enjoy it! Never dreamed that could happen. But I think that I just avoided such exercises for years out of laziness and hating exercise until Wii Fit came along. Then I only did fun things at first, but as I built up I actually WANTED to try these other things.

Did this comment seem to go around in circles for a while??? LOL. :D

I've been doing EA Sports Active More Workouts everyday. It asked me to do 16 push ups. NO WAY! I can't do that. I didn't want to skip the exercise so I did 16 old lady push ups on my knees. Figured it was better than none. That was 8 weeks ago. I've been gradually working on getting my legs out so I'm doing them right. Last night this old lady did 16 proper push ups. I never in a million years would have thought that I could do it. I'm one of those people that dives in and doesn't read directions. I always set things on the hard setting and think I can just do it.

I think because I'm doing these programs at home all by myself that I've been able to slow it down and do what I can with great results. There's no on to impress and no one to laugh at me if I don't succeed. I can feel good about myself for my little accomplishments and when they turn into big accomplishments it's just that much better.

Now all I have to do is work on doing those fancy bodybuilder push ups where they clap or do it with one hand!
