First off Merry Christmas to all, This is my first post on here so I don't really know what to say??

We bought Wii Fit two weeks ago, and I have been on it for 8 days straight for about an hour a day. I am 5' 6" 163 pounds, and It says I am overweight which I am kind of chunky. I am 27 years old and on pretty good shape, my mom on the other hand is 5' 6" and 213 pounds and it says she is obese she is also 56 years old. I wanted to join this forum to stay motivated with other like minded people who are going through the same thing we are, look forward to making a couple posts on what I like and don't like about the WII FIT PLUS..............AMY

Update!

My mom has lost 6.1lbs. in her first week, and I lost 2.8lbs. in my first 8 days which I think is really good. I have given up pop and started drinking water and sugar free stuff, and I am trying to stop eating at night time because that is a horrible habit to get into. I also starting eating an apple at night time to stave off the cravings, it is easier than I thought to give up junk food. I got Gold's Gym Cardio Work Out for Christmas, and all I have to say about that is WOW! The Wii Fit Plus is a great workout, but you really don't burn that many calories while doing it. I was on the Gold's Gym for 39 minutes, and I burned 390 calories and I was definately feeling it. My estimated Wii age was 22, so I was very pleased with the results so far. I'll keep you posted on further progress! 8-)

Good work! Just getting moving seems to help with making better choices and feeling better. I started using Wii Fit just as something to do and got really into it so I bought EA Sports Active Personal Trainer. I really like it for a structured cardio workout and now have EA's More Workouts.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Likewise. I love EA Sports Active. I think the best thing is to use a couple of fitness games. I use EASA four times a week, and Wii Fit Plus on the other three. That way I don't get bored of one so fast, and I can still do something active even on rest days.

I just ordered My Fitness Coach on a boxing day online sale so I'm going to add that to my fitness toys. I find any one thing gets boring after a bit and having a change of workouts also helps to work different body areas. I still love Wii Fit Cycling for just a light workout with some challenge. I always do better if there's some kind of dare or goal to be gained!

Thanks for the encouragement, I am actually going tomorrow to buy the EA Sports Workout, and the more workouts one as well. I am on my 12th day today, and I am still doing well with my eating and working out every day. I am on christmas break from work, so It is easy to fall off the program but I am trying very hard to stick to it. I even got my dad to try it today, he had a hip replacement a year ago but his muscles got really weak. So we are hoping he will benefit from this as well, I am up to an hour and a half a day and I still feel like I could do more. My hardest thing to do is the running, my knees cannot take that even running on carpet LOL!

My mom wants me to buy that game The Biggest Loser, does anyone here have that game and what does it mostly work out? I was also looking at the Pallates one, but I'm not sure that I am flexible enough for that one. Unfortunately I cannot do push ups, because I have two torn rotator cuffs which hurt like hell when I try doing them. I am also going to buy a Yoga Mat to keep me from slipping, I find that my fee easily slip sideways while doing some of the yoga and strength training stuff.

Hiya,

Nice going :) I think it's good to mix these games. For the moment just get yourself a copy of EA Sports Active for the moment, and then get EA Sports Active More Workouts when you have got bored of it.

I've just posted a review of Biggest Loser. Conclusion: not bad, but not great, and it doesn't really give you anything much that EA Sports Active doesn't.

I'd stick to two, or perhaps three games at a time. I am using EA Sports Active More Workouts for four days a week, and then Wii Fit Plus for the other three. They complement each other well.

I highly recommend getting the kit with a yoga mat and the silicone skin for the balance boards. It really helps with not slipping either on the board or on the floor. I don't wear shoes when working out which most people recommend but I did buy a pair of sock/slippers that have the little rubber dots on the bottom to prevent slipping. It's much easier to concentrate on your exercise when you don't have to worry about your feet sliding out from under you.

I agree with Paul. I would only buy EA Sports Active Personal Trainer for now. It has a 30 day challenge that you can complete on either easy, medium or high intensity levels. There are also lots of preset workouts to do separately or you can create your own workouts. It comes with the leg band and a resistance band that you need for the workout. The band is really not that good and most people have replaced the band with either Thera Bands or the Gold's Gym bands.

You'll find a big difference between Wii Fit and the EA games. It's best to start out on easy level and you can always move up as you get used to the exercises. Keep us updated on your progress!

Well I bought the EA Sports workouts, and I also bought the More workouts one just to have. I have to say that it really gives you a workout on both of those, I hate running and I noticed that both of those programs are running intensive!

I am on my 2nd day of the 30 day challenge so far, and I have burned a ton of calories but I am not going to weigh myself until after the 30 day challenge so I will either be surprised or dissapointed. My mom is really struggling with both of these games, and I am not sure if they are properly suited for an out of shape 57 year old woman??

I do think you guys are right about the resistance bands though, the one's they give you stink! I bought some 30lb. resistance bands from Dick's Sporting Good's, and they are perfect meanwhile my mom uses the 10lb. ones and struggles.

I almost forgot to mention that the EA Sports was a multiplayer pack I bought at Sam's Club, it came with two leg straps, two resistance bands and the game of course. It was like $64.99 I think, but it is a lot more fun with the two of us competing together instead of one watching and the other one doing all of the work. More to come, stay tuned..............

What level did you choose for your workouts? I'd recommend the easy level for someone not used to exercising. The Personal Trainer is a lot more intense with running and jumping than the More Workouts. You got a really good deal on the games. I think I paid around $60 each for them and only got one leg strap and band.
